What?!? Here’s the exchange …
I said, “Do y’all carry ‘Shrinky Dinks’?”
He looked quisically at me.
“Uhhh, what’s a ‘Shrinky Dink … Dinky … ‘?”
Incredulous, “What!? You didn’t play with Shrinky Dinks? … They’re awesome. You, like, draw on them.. then bake them and they shrink…”
Continues to look at me like I’m the crazy one.
I try, “Do you have a kids craft section?”
I actually know the answer to this, but didn’t know what to say next.
“Yeah, aisles … back there (he points).”
So, they don’t carry Shrinky Dinks – by the way. Which is a shame, cause I need them cause (a) Kane needs a new collar in a bad, bad way, (b) Shrinky Dinks are fun – and this dog tag craft from Martha looks fun.
Edit to post: Here’s a bit of Shrinky Dink trivia for you, I just learned it at www.shrinkydink.com. The first Shrinky Dinks were sold at BROOKEFIELD SQUARE MALL in 1973. Why all CAPS there? Cause this Texas girl as been to Brookfield Square Mall – in 1973 it was probably far less ghetto than I remember it. My OBFF lives outside Milwaukee where I was born – growing up I would go visit her and we’ often shop at Brookfield Square Mall. Go friggin’ figure. No, if only I would get the question “where were shrinky dinks first sold” for $1,000,000 on some game show.
