Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. [Enter Regretsy.]

I heart Etsy. Moreover, I BELIEVE in Etsy. I believe we should make more w/ our own hands. And, because there are so many crafts & art forms that I should NEVER attempt (glass blowing) or LOATHE (scrapbooking) or CAN’T AFFORD (letterpress) or SUCK AT (painting). I truly appreciate venues which provide me with access to artisans who do beautiful things that I can not, don’t want to do, or simply don’t have the time to do.

(Note: 1000 Markets is another place to check out.)

I have purchased handmade items on Etsy, and wish to do so more. I promote Etsy. All of this leads me to introduce those of you who haven’t yet heard to … Regretsy.

Go. There. Now. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Go. To. Regretsy. You will regret it, in the same way you regret the inability to turn your face away from the car wreck you pass on the way to Target. You will regret it in the same way that you regret discovering sites like I Can Has a Cheeseburger or Texts from Last Night or FUPenguin. They are hilarious, inappropriate, embarrassing and a HUGE. TIME. SUCK.

NO! Wait, disclaimer. A substantial amount of the content could be should be may be considered offensive.

I will not pull the photos over to Crafty Green Mom, nor will I offer you meaningful descriptions of what you will see when you jump over to Regretsy. But I will tell you that most reasonable people will be … bewildered, and probably a bit shocked.

Follow Regretsy on Twitter – I am.

Post publication addition – Another great place to see crafts that just … suck is over at Craft Fail. Self-submitted (i.e. the crafters themselves submit the fails), hilarity ensues. Check out the …um, “lobster”.

And the soap? What exactly is its scent!?

AND $80 for that necklace. Just. WTF. That looks like a piece of rug the dog chewed off.

There is a section devoted to hoo-hoos!

    I’m… wow. Just, wow.
